Welcome to class!

Hi parents and students,

Welcome to my classes for the second semester. I am teaching three different classes this semester. Intro to Computers, Desktop Publishing, and Computer Programming. Please visit the corresponding Website to learn more about the classes and read the syllabus for each class. I am looking forward to working with your students and teaching them technology skills in my classes. If you should ever need to contact me, please feel free to email me or call me at 887-8213. Please use PowerSchool to keep track of your student's grades. It is a great tool to keep tabs on how well your student is doing in class. You can even get email updates! Check it out.

End of the Semester

Welcome back! Students in my Intro to Computers class are working hard and moving towards the end of the semester. LOTS of things are going on. We are finishing a quick unit called "The Dream Team" where students need to start their own professional sports franchise. They create a logo, business card, letterhead, envelope, and uniforms. This unit is based on my book of the same name, The Dream Team. As students finish this, they are moving to another project that fits in nicely with the counselors coming into class for scheduling. The Career Unit lets students explore a career that interests them while completing documents in Google Apps. While we are doing all this, we take a few minutes a day to show the Animoto movies that we made before break. Finally, students will be taking their final exams during the week of January 23rd. They will take the same pre-tests that they took the first week of school so we can evaluate their growth. Finals will consist of vocabulary from the six vocabulary units throughout the semester as well as SAM 2007 tests in Word, Excel, PPT, and Access. As always, your son or daughter can practice from home on the pre-test and use the training feature to improve their skills.
